Prof. P. Umamaheshwara Reddy, NIH Fellow, USA, (Former Head, Department of Zoology) Dean, Development and UGC Affairs, Osmania University has been the source of inspiration to take up a challenging task to conduct the Two- Day National workshop on “Integrated Mosquito Management and Future Directives” which was held on 8-9^th January 2007 at Hyderabad. The delegates and participants have unanimously resolved to form an association on the name of Hyderabad Mosquito Control Association to address the issues related to mosquito menace as and when the situation demands. In the recent past Chikungunya epidemics in Andhra Pradesh has devastated the life style of common man. It implies that the mosquito surveillance mechanism has to be improved a lot and the data base system is to be established for forecasting and efficient mosquito interventions
